You never know what is going to take your hook on Metionga Lake. Chances are it is a feisty walleye looking for a dinner invitation, or a lunker northern testing your tackle and resolve. Sometimes it is something that looks prehistoric and plain weird – the fish I mean.
It looks like this is a small burbot. Burbots are bottom feeders and will sometime grab a bait sitting in their domain. I have written about these before. Search the blog for “burbot”
Rich did vindicate himself with some nice walleye too.
