You think he is fun in the summer!
Many of our guests are entertained by the antics of Lindor our chocolate lab.
In the summer he tires out our guests with his ball retrieving and high diving skills.
In the winter he keeps us amused with his tireless need for play. He really doesn't care much whether it is –30 or colder.
It can be summed up in one word...PLAY
While we were home for a few days in January between shows Lindor kept us active and outside.

Sport Show Circuit
We have been on the road most of January promoting our fly in fishing trips in the mid west USA. This week we are in Madison Wisc and then move to Green Bay for the weekend.
Our set up is simple but our fly in fishing trips need nothing fancy to sell themselves. It is comforting to know that fishing is still a priority for many guys and gals.

Heading south again
We haven’t even got the salt off the vehicle from our last run to sport shows. We loaded up again and are off to the All Canada Milwaukee, Madison and Green Bay shows on this swing.
We hope to see many of our guests and friends while we are on the road.
If you haven’t planned your 2009 fishing expedition with Ignace Outposts yet, and you live near one of the shows we’ll be attending, please stop by and set things up.

Seseganaga Lake just doesn’t stop
Can you believe Seseganaga Lake keeps turning out these big fish?
Jim B from Minneapolis just send me another picture of a Seseganaga lake trophy northern pike. As per our “kill no trophy” policy, this fish went back into the lake to fight another day.
We may still be in the grip of winter but our thoughts are turning to another great year of fishing. We still have some sport shows to do so check our show schedule and if we are in your neighbourhood, stop by and let’s set up your 2009 fishing trip.

Through the eyes of a child
The Holzer family from Wisconsin have vacationed with us for many years. This fall, after their August family trip, Amy, their 10 year old daughter (5th grade) wrote the following piece for a school project on descriptive writing about her favorite place.
It is interesting to see Metionga Lake through the eyes of a child. As adults we sometimes take such things for granted.
A Beautiful Night on Lake Metionga
"The boat slices through the glass-calm waters of Lake Metionga. The Canadian sun turned the cool lake water to a peach color. I see a beaver building its lodge out of old birch logs, and a beautiful loon calls in the far distance. I want to check out the woods, so I tell my mom to take me onto the rocky shore.
As I get out of the boat, I notice how the sun casts a golden light through the trees the color of glowing embers on a fire. I could smell the fresh pine and I can taste the fresh air. I walk slowly and quietly, not wanting to shatter the peaceful silence. Or was it anything but silence? With no cars running, no people shouting, I heard sounds I never knew existed. For a moment I was petrified, but then I noticed some storm clouds to the west, so we left the quiet island and headed home.
At night I went out to look at the bright stars. There were millions of them, and they sparkle like diamonds. I saw all kinds of constellations. Then, to the north, I saw the famous and beautiful Northern Lights. It was a spectacular array of brilliant violet, flaming red, and enchanting green. It took my breath away. Now I understand why someone once said, "No paintbrush and can paint it, no pencil can draw it and no words can describe it." I thought it couldn't be any more amazing than that, but then a majestic eagle soared gracefully through the sky. Life can't get any better than this!"

As I've said before, this sure beats Disney world!

Return to Cold!
The show turn outs were actually very encouraging, with good numbers of serious outdoors men on several days. Of course being in Minneapolis when the Vikings make one of their rare playoff appearances made last Sunday a very slow day at the show.
In Ignace this morning we were greeted with -36C as an air temperature. It is still winter around our parts. We won't be venturing far these next few days.
Next week we are off to Milwaukee, Madison and Green Bay so if you are in those areas, feel free to stop by at a show and get your 2009 fly in fishing trip with Ignace Outposts trip lined up.

Don't forget the passport
On June 1, 2009, the U.S. government will implement the full requirements of the land and sea phase of Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative. The proposed rules require most U.S. citizens entering the United States at sea or land ports of entry to have a passport, passport card, or WHTI-compliant document.
See the Department of Homeland Security's GetYouHome.gov for more information on the changing travel requirements.
This is a US government law, but I'm sure Canada will be checking too just to be sure you can get back into the US after your Ignace Outposts fishing trip.

Don't take my word for it.
In Cronzy's 2008 newsletter, he says "If had one lake to own in all the north or one lake to have a wilderness cottage on, it would be Metionga."
Fortunately, we do have a cabin on Metionga Lake and it is our pleasure to share it with you if you want to experience the ultimate in Canadian Hospitality and wilderness fishing.

Comments from a first time guest
"I wanted to let you know I had a wonderful time on Metionga. I have fished Canada for 10 years. This year was the first time I made two trips for fly-ins. I have experienced 3 outfitters in that time so my loyalty is strong. You guys have a great thing going and my experience with you folks was by far the best I have experienced. The fishing was great! Your cabins, boats, on site guy, everything. I have spoken to the guy's in my normal group and let them know about your accommodations. Hopefully I can get our group to your lakes this upcoming year .
Thanks again Brad!! Happy Holidays stay safe."
One thing we strive to do is treat all our guests whether 1st time or 50th time the way we would like to be treated. After 24 years of success with this formula, I think we'll keep at it.
